Tracy Larkin Thomason

As a visionary leader, Director Larkin Thomason united the Nevada Department of Transportation with a focus on partnerships and technology.
Tracy leads the department's approximately 1,900 team members in planning, constructing, operating and maintaining the states 5,400 centerline miles of highway and inspecting more than 2,000 bridges across the state.
A transportation innovator, she brings more than 35 years of transportation experience, and an impressive wealth of knowledge to her role.
Tracy held numerous NDOT administrative, management, and technical roles, culminating in a position as deputy director before retiring in 2021. During this time, she engaged in partnerships, programs, and efforts to increase diversity and workforce development, forged industry partnerships, oversaw NDOT engineering districts and field operations, and led multi-state, multi-modal planning efforts such as the I-80 Coalition to coordinate Interstate 80 operations, traveler information and more throughout the west.
Following her NDOT retirement, Tracy served as senior vice president of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITSA) where she drove national efforts in intelligent transportation systems.
Tracy returned to NDOT upon being appointed director in 2023, supporting Governor Lombardo's plan to target critical transportation needs, build out new and alternative transportation modes, and expand new transportation opportunities through partnership with neighboring states and federal agencies.
Tracy received her MBA and B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a Certified Public Manager, a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, and holds a license as a Registered Professional Engineer in Nevada.
