Calvin Reed has been serving as the Kansas Secretary of Transportation since December 2022, following the departure of former Secretary Julie Lorenz. Reed has been with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) since 2002, initially working as a Bureau Chief of the Structures and Geotechnical Services Division and later as Director of the Engineering and Design Division. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University. Reed is dedicated to improving Kansas' transportation infrastructure and has been involved in significant projects such as the Heartland Flyer expansion and the Polk Quincy Viaduct project. His leadership is expected to continue the agency's commitment to providing safe and efficient solutions for Kansas citizens and communities.
